Brides by Nona was established by Nneka C. Alexander in 2014. Quite unimpressed by the cookie-cutter selections of bridal gowns available for purchase off-the-rack at traditional bridal salons, Nneka decided it was time to make a change. At a time when brides flocked into flagship bridal boutiques in a frenzy to get their hands on the latest ready-made bridal frocks, Nneka started Brides by Nona with a mission to give brides what they had never experienced but what they will always cherish -- the option of choice! "It's YOUR wedding gown and you should choose WHAT you want to wear and HOW you want to wear it!", states Nneka.
Nneka's very first bride was her own twin sister (yes, our beloved Designer is a twin! Cool huh?!). She designed her twin sister's wedding gown, which became a viral sensation on multiple social media platforms and brides became immediately enamored with the idea of having their gowns custom made.
In came brides from all around the globe: Canada, London, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Angola, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Barbados, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and of course the U.S.A.
Nneka's designs have been seen on celebrities and socialites in the U.S.A., and her work has been featured in high-profile magazines such as: VOGUE, People, Essence, BET, E!
